Dublin Port Riverfest
Over the June Bank Holiday, North Wall Quay plays host to the Dublin Port Riverfest. Organised by the Dublin Port Company and the Docklands Business Forum, expect a unique celebration along the historic quays with a jam packed programme of entertainment and family fun.
2016’s festival included a huge array of activities over the course of the weekend including the arrival of 3 tall ships and 4 schooners which berthed at North Wall Quay for the weekend. Try it out kayaking sessions allowed people to see the visiting ships from a unique angle. Dublin Bay Cruises St. Bridget offered three trips daily out into Dublin Bay and The Jeanie Johnston offered free tours over the course of the weekend. Dublin Tug Boats Shackleton & Beaufort’s Tug Boat Dances prove a popular site every year.
Not to be outdone by the water, land activities also play a integral part to the festival, with street performers, music from shanty singers and a unique Irish/Nigerian band, bars, face painting and carnival attractions, children’s art & circus workshops. Pirate re-enactments all weekend, open air food and craft markets as well as exhibitions in the CHQ Building provide the whole family with fun and entertainment. Customs officers were also on hand at Dublin Port Riverfest with their cutter on view and they carried out sniffer dog demonstrations!
The Dublin Port Riverfest promises to be a hive of activity, with entertainment and family fun guaranteed, so don’t miss out on next year’s festival!
